The true magic of Kyoto comes alive at the end of the day, when past and present blend into the night! Join a local expert and uncover hidden gems while walking through the lantern-lit wooden streets of Kyoto’s famed Geisha district of Gion.
You’ll begin your tour at Gion Corner. Here there's a good chance you’ll see both Geiko and Maiko dressed in their traditional colorful attire. From there, you’ll wander the serene backstreets of Higashiyama stopping by the unique but rarely visited Yasui Konpira Gu Shrine, the marvelous Yasaka Pagoda and colourful Yasaka Shrine. Then, you'll head over to northern Gion walking through the narrow streets lined with smaller and more modern clubs and bars. Passing the Kamo River, you'll cross into Pontocho, a centuries-old entertainment district lit almost entirely by traditional Japanese lanterns of every shape and size. You’ll cross to Teramachi, a traditional Japanese-style arcade strip home to a countless variety of shops and restaurants. After that, you'll head past the Nishiki food market before ending your tour by the Shijo - Karasuma station.
