If you love learning about other cultures, then be sure to not miss this tour when you visit Luang Prabang.

After meeting your guide at the Victoria Xiengthong Palace Hotel, hop on a tuk tuk to the Bamboo Experience Centre. There, you will meet a local guide and join the group before the tour starts. The bamboo experience is a family run workshop where you will learn about Lao bamboo products, activities, and foods. Lao people have been consuming bamboo shoots for years and recipes have been passed down through many generations.

The cooking class begins with learning how to pound rice to get rid of the husks. Next, the resident chef will show you how to make sticky rice and some of the most famous bamboo dishes like ‘Kaeng Naw Mai’ (bamboo soup), stuffed bamboo shoots with minced pork, and spicy fermented bamboo shoot sauce with sticky rice. When you are finished, you can take a bit of Laos' culture with these mouthwatering delicacies.

Finally, to end the tour, the staff will show you the Lao bamboo dance, which you will have the opportunity to try yourself.
