The evening is a special time to see these penguins and you will discover why in this evening tour. Observe the nightly ritual of Pohatu which is an Australasian little penguin colony on mainland New Zealand. You will be able to see these little birds socialise on the water and take part in 30+ years of conservation work and discover how they are different from other types of penguins.
Then, once you have walked around the colony and monitored them returning to shore and relaxing on the rocks, you can appreciate the special feeling of this experience as well as telling others your new knowledge about them.
The best time for penguin viewing is the breeding season between the end of August to December. You can see molting penguins in January and February, but starting the end of February through early April we do NOT have penguins. There are also some windows of excellent viewing opportunities from mid-April to September when the birds return periodically from sea.
Receive a 90% refund if you cancel up to 24 hours before the experience begins.
Good news! No extra fees are applied to this booking.
