Uppsala is the fourth biggest city in Sweden, mainly due to its university that dates back to 1477. This is also the location of the Swedish archbishop seat.
The Uppsala cathedral is the largest in Scandinavia. Swedish kings have been coronated and buried here, with many important Swedes that lived and died in Uppsala. You can visit the grave of Carl Linneaus (founder of the naming system for plants) and Dag Hammarskjold (UN General Secretary), and in Old Uppsala, you find the grave of Anders Celsius (the temperature scale).
Take your time and walk around for a lunch of your own choosing, some free time for exploring and shopping is included. You may visit the central market and modern Downtown area.
Included is also a visit to Old Uppsala. This cool and special archaeological site has been inhabited for more than 1500 years and is seen as the most important settlement of early Sweden. During the Vendel era, it held its greatest importance (550-800 AD).
