There are many scenic viewpoints including Rainbow Curve Outlook and Mushroom Rocks overlooks along the driving route, and easy, accessible trails liket the ones in Sprague and Bear Lakes. You can also choose to follow the historic route, the Old Fall River Road, where the earliest visitors used to drive on. While driving, listen all about the “Father of Rocky Mountain National Park” and the other influential characters who fought and invested heavily to preserve this area.

It's suggested to drive the Trail Ridge Road return between Estes Park and Grand Lake in a single day, you will have plenty of time for stops. Consider adding extra days if you want to follow the Old Fall River Road, and stop for wildlife watching and hikes
The Trail Ridge Road, between Estes Park and Grand Lake, is 49 miles (78 km) one way and takes about 2 hours, plus time for stopping at the recommended viewpoints and places of interest. There are options for other short drives in the Park, including Bear Lake and the Old Fall River Road
