The true and authentic Catalan culture is at the Museu d'Història de Catalunya.
Designed to conserve, exhibit, and raise awareness of the history of Catalonia, the Museu d'Història de Catalunya is filled with items and stories that will show you a whole new culture. The museum is an exciting journey into the Catalan territory's past through temporary exhibitions, interactive opportunities, films and drawings designed to educate and inspire you. Ride a medieval horse, learn about Franco's dictatorship or how cavemen shaped the area you are in now. The permanent exhibition “La memòria d'un país”, offers an interactive tour through the main periods, cultures, events and characters that have shaped the history of Catalonia.
Plus, the rooftop restaurant and bar are a highlight of the visit. Climb up for a drink and enjoy incredible views of Port Vell, the city, and Montjuic, the hill that rises above Barcelona's harbour.
As temporary exhibitions, the museum offers:
“En fugida. Refugees”, until March 30, 2025. During the last decade, it is estimated that the number of refugees and displaced people in the world has doubled. Currently, this figure stands at about 120 million people. The phenomenon of displacement and forced migration is arguably the most serious humanitarian problem of our time. Flight has become the most important life experience for millions of people.
