Begin your day trip from Fukuoka with a visit to Kyushu's largest strawberry garden. This expansive garden is renowned for its 11 distinct varieties of strawberries, offering you the chance to savour the fresh and juicy fruit. The garden's broad paths and tiered growing methods make it an ideal destination for families, allowing children to easily pick strawberries at different heights.

Next, embark on a tranquil journey through the waterways of Yanagawa. Once the centre of Yanagawa Castle, this town is also known as the birthplace of poet Hakushu Kitahara. Experience a boat cruise aboard a traditional local vessel named after the native "Donko" fish. As you glide through the extensive canals of this water town, soak in its charm, particularly in spring, when peach and cherry blossoms adorn the riversides.

Explore Saga's history and art, highlighted by Saga Castle ruins (formerly Kameyama Castle, completed in 1611) and the Saga Prefectural Art Museum (opened in 1970).

Yanagawa boat cruise: 1000 to 2000 JPY
Yanagawa Lord Tachibana Family Villa admission: 700 JPY for adults; 400 JPY for high school students; 300 JPY for elementary/middle school students
Optional visit to Kyushu National Museum at extra cost. Admission fees: General 700 JPY (free for under 18 years old) and for Special Exhibition 2,000 JPY (varies)
