Besides the huge artistic legacy, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera also left what they both had most in common, their love for their roots and culture. Enjoy a fascinating journey through the life and work of these great Mexican artists by visiting three museums located in Coyoacán, one of the most fascinating areas of the country.
Your first stop is the Blue House, the house where Frida Kahlo was born and died. In this place, you can feel the emotions that inspired her works, both joy and sadness, courage and suffering. Her belongings on display will help you better understand everything that she represented in her works and paintings throughout her life.
Next, visit a site that, under the great imagination of Diego Rivera, was transformed from a volcanic rock terrain into a museum. The Anahuacalli Museum houses some of Diego Rivera's sketches for murals as well as part of his collection of pre-Hispanic works with about 2,000 figures and idols from different cultures and periods.
Finally, you will end up in a place where Frida and Diego used to live, and where most of their legacy remains present: the Dolores Olmedo Museum, home to a great compilation of Diego Rivera's works and to the largest collection in the world of Frida Khalo's paintings, as well as to more than 900 archaeological pieces from diverse cultures and historical periods.
